Jet Analytics JSON & XML Data Source

This provider connects to JSON or XML files stored across folders and subfolders in a variety of locations. Files can be merged using aggregation patterns, and the Table Builder can be used to configure XML structures for the data.

The JSON & XML data source

When searching for JSON or XML in the data source list, the following data source provider is available.

Incomplete row handling

When the Empty fields equal to null option is checked, empty fields are converted to actual null values rather than remaining as blank fields.

Table Builder

The Table Builder transforms nested JSON or XML responses into flattened tables with columns and rows, using drag and drop functionality to define the underlying r Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) with no manual XSLT authoring required. It is available on any endpoint in the REST and JSON & XML data sources. For instructions, see Table Builder User Manual for Data Sources

Connection settings

The CSV data source supports the same location types and connection settings as the other Jet Analytics enhanced file-based data sources. Enhanced file-based data sources are a category of data sources that allow you to connect to and ingest structured or semi-structured files stored across a variety of locations and storage platforms. Unlike database or API-based data sources, these sources read directly from files — such as CSV, Excel, JSON, Parquet, or XML — wherever those files reside.

The supported location types are:

  • Local file or folder

  • Azure Blob Storage or AD

  • AWS S3 Bucket

  • SharePoint or OneDrive

  • Google Cloud Storage

  • SFTP

For a full description of each setting, see Jet Analytics Data Sources General Connection Settings.
