Update Data Source Providers
This article describes how to update a data source provider to a newer version and how to control whether data source connections update automatically or use an explicitly selected version.
Starting with Jet Analytics Data Integration version 7257.1, data source connections use the explicitly selected version by default. In earlier releases, the Jet Analytics Ingest Service automatically downloaded and used the latest compatible version.
When upgrading to version 7257.1, update each data source connection manually, or change the organisation-level setting back to automatic updates. Automatic update settings only apply to version 7257.1 and later.
Update a data source provider manually
When a data source connection uses an explicitly selected version, it must be updated manually in the following situations:
- When installing a new version of the Jet Analytics Ingest Service.
- When Jet Analytics releases bug fixes or hotfixes for data source providers.
The selected version must be compatible with the installed Jet Analytics Ingest Service version.
- Sign in to the Jet Analytics Portal and navigate to Data Estate > Data sources. Data source providers with a newer version available are indicated on the list.
The Jet Analytics portal is managed by the insightsoftware Support team. For assistance or additional information, reach out to Product Support .
- Click Update to… next to the data source, or open the data source details page and click Update to… there.
- Click Update to confirm.
- If the new provider version includes properties that were not present in the previous version, they are highlighted as new. Complete any new required properties, then click Update to finish.
Configure automatic updates at the organisation level
The automatic update behaviour can be configured for all data source connections in the organisation.
- Navigate to Admin > Basic info.
- In the lower-right corner of the Contact information section, view the current automatic update setting.
- Click Edit.
- Select one of the following options:
- Off (default): Data source connections use the explicitly selected version.
- On: All data source connections automatically update to the latest compatible version.
- Per data source connection: Enables individual control for each data source connection.
- Click Save.
Configure automatic updates at the data source connection level
Individual data source connections can be configured to update automatically or to use a specific version. This option is only available when the organisation-level setting is set to Per data source connection.
When this setting is active, the data source connections page shows whether auto update is enabled or disabled for each connection. Auto update is disabled by default.
- Navigate to Data Estate > Data source connections.
- Click Add data source connection to create a new connection, or select an existing connection and click Edit.
- When Per data source connection is selected at the organisation level, an Auto update section appears in the form.
- Enable or disable the Auto update setting for the connection.
- Click Save.
