Jet Analytics Data Integration 6505.1
Released January 8, 2024. Desktop version 6505.1.
New
Automatic data source creation in Ingest: When a data source connection is mapped to an Ingest instance, a data source using that connection is automatically created in the instance. When adding a new data source connection, it can now also be mapped to an Ingest instance directly on the same page.
Test connection from the Portal: It is now possible to test whether the Ingest service can establish a connection to a data source when adding or editing a data source connection in the Portal.
Improved Get Started guide: A new step-by-step Get Started guide is available, accessible from the Home page. Progress is saved on a company basis. The card can be dismissed from the Home page once no longer needed. The Jet Analytics portal is managed by the insightsoftware Support team. For assistance or additional information, reach out to Product Support .
New REST data source provider: A new REST data source provider simplifies connection to REST-based data sources, including the ability to set up endpoints without editing configuration files.
Instances grouped by environment in Jet Analytics Data Integration: Instances are now grouped by environment in Jet Analytics Data Integration, building on the multiple environments feature introduced in the previous major release.
Generate end-to-end execution packages and tasks: Execution packages and Ingest tasks that update all data for a specific semantic model can now be generated automatically. When changes are made to the semantic model, the flow can be regenerated and any customisations made to auto-generated objects are preserved.
Calculation groups in Deliver instances: Calculation groups can now be added to Deliver instances and deployed to Tabular and Power BI Premium endpoints. A Discourage implicit measures option has been added to endpoints, defaulting to Automatic (true when calculation groups are present, false otherwise).
Snippets in Deliver instances: DAX, Qlik, and Tableau snippets can now be added and used in custom fields, custom measures, and calculation group items.
Changed
- The add/edit data source connection pages in the Portal have been redesigned. Some optional fields and categories are now hidden in an Advanced section by default, making initial setup faster.
- Improved logic in Jet Analytics Data Integration to more reliably handle instance renames made in the Portal.
- The Value parameter is now available for use in custom scripts in Deliver instances.
Fixed
Portal
- Fixed an issue where users could see — but not access — instances they had not been granted access to.
- Public job endpoints were not handling unknown states correctly.
- Endpoints were being added out of order in the Deliver instance form.
- Fixed an issue with the "move customer" operation.
- Storage types were not always loading correctly on the Prepare instance form.
- Fixed a floating info icon on the Deliver instance form.
- Fixed an issue where the Portal would throw a "not signed in" error due to an expired token but then fail to redirect to the sign-in page.
- The Analysis Services 2022 deployment target option was missing from the Tabular endpoint configuration.
- Cloning a data source connection was routing to the original form instead of the cloned form.
- Disabling automatic firewall rules was not always handled correctly when distributing connections.
Jet Analytics Data Integration
- Fixed an issue where data lineage occasionally failed when aggregating display values in SQL.
- Fixed an issue where the Ingest service would sometimes fail to validate the data source connection version for enhanced and ADF transfer components, causing an error.
- Improved handling of unsupported data sources to provide clearer error messages instead of generic exceptions.
- Fixed an issue where using an existing SQL database as storage for an Ingest instance would be rejected due to data storage version validation.
- Fixed an issue with data lineage and reverse sign transformations not working correctly.
- Fixed an issue where a trailing dot (.) in a table name would cause execution to fail when using Azure Data Lake storage. The dot character is now replaced with an underscore when it is the last character of a folder name in the data lake.
- Fixed an issue where deployment would fail when a source table DW_Id was mapped to a destination table DW_Id.
- Fixed an issue where the Business Central 365 online data source was failing to validate before inserting system fields during transfer.
- Fixed an issue where Azure Synapse Dedicated SQL Pool would fail when adding a selection rule on a renamed field.
- Fixed an issue with setting up an incremental load rule using year subtraction.
- Fixed an issue where generating documentation with only an Ingest instance open would throw an error.
- Fixed an issue where mapping would fail for tables using system fields as column names.
- Fixed an issue where a table with multiple lookup fields would return incorrect results in a Snowflake Prepare instance.
-
Jet Analytics SAP Table data source provider:
- Added support for DecimalFloatingPoint34 and DecimalFloatingPoint16 data types.
- Fixed an issue where fields starting with / could not be added to incremental load rules.
- Fixed an issue where the maximum row setting was incorrectly limiting the number of data rows transferred.
- Improved logging.
- Fixed an issue where the default relation was not set correctly when relating tables in a Deliver instance.
- Optimised instance updates during task initialisation.
